Acer computers

2 Feb

Aspire 5100 LaptopUS I would NOT recommend Acer products. Purchased the laptop in December 2007 as a christmas gift. So far it has been sent back twice - once to have the motherboard replaced and the 2nd time because of screen issues - the screen goes completely blank. Acer never fixed the screen issue and now claims it's out of warranty so they won't replace or repair it - even with the many documented issues I have on record with them. Poor products and even poorer service.

Check Declined – But It’s Valid

2 Feb

Check ID - Check ServicesCertegy Company (Subsid. of Fidelity)Tampa, FL UShttp://www.fidelityinfoservices.com/FNFIS/Markets/AllIndustries/CheckServicing/ I attempted to purchase a ticket at AirTran with a check and was told the check was declined. I could NOT believe it! Fortunately, I had another form of payment, but that did not have to be the case.I asked for the company who had authorized the decline and saw that it was Certegy. I called and a rep told me my transaction did exhibited certain "patterns" and that there were factors attached that she could not discuss. She stated unfortunately, there will be errors during their analysis, not responding to my concern that honest patrons are being embarrassed and inconvenienced. I complained to AirTran, and I stated that I think when companies utilize check services agencies, they should use those that are accurate. This could have truly been a nightmare.

Harvard Consulting – Owner Dom Scolieri – Does not know recruiting

2 Feb

Not a real consulting company - spam recruiting agencyHarvard-ConsultingSan Bernardino, CA USwww.harvard-consulting.com Dom Scolieri contacted me for a recruiting positon with his company Harvard-Consulting. Which by the way they are NOT a true 'consulting' company. They are actually a spam recruiting agency and appears setting themselves up to be a very dirty one - at that. Burn em and turn em, hard core, no name, just give me the money...., recruiting agency. Their only client, when I met with them, was Perot. Not many people like working for perot.I found when meeting with Dom, he did not know recruiting at all. He use to be an IT guy 10 years ago. I guess when he could not find work after 9/11, he tried recruiting, then could not do that, then tried to hire recruiters and had a high turnover in his old office. I was not interested at first and turned him down. He called back, and to get me out to San Bernardino, CA (the boonies) he quoted a base pay of 45K. He stated they had plenty of money to pay people. However, when the offer contract came I was only offered 36K - Bait and Switch, big time.I tried to correct him and make him live up to his verbal commitment he previously quoted to get me to meet with him. I kept hearing him say in my head "we have plenty of money, the base is not a problem."Well, Mr Dom Scolieri threw it back on me, and declined to hire me for the base compensation he quoted to get me to meet with him. A very dirty pool man wouldn't you say. But he's really smooth. Mr. Scoleiri threw it back on me stating; all I wanted was the base compensation and that makes me a recruiter whom cannot perform. "Well, Mr. Scolieri, this is 'bait and switch' and is against the law. I have over 15 yrs successful experience. They are a spam recruiting company. I checked into his previous office people from resumes in databases. Mr. Scoleiri had a high turn over. Apparently, he does not know how to treat a staff. He made several performance promises to me. Every time, he would get this to me and follow up, or a contract to me... Then days later he apologized for not keeping his word - each time. I was getting very sick of - breach of promises and performance. Each time he never performed in the manner he stated he would. Ya, this is a guy who can run a staff of recruiters. I give it a year and non of the recruiters will work out. But, go for the quick base now during hard time. Just keep looking for a job the whole time or you will end up unemployed with no prospects. No wonder this guy could not get back into his IT career. He probably had a bad rep utation of performance.

OCJ Group – Mark Brenner – employment contract company

2 Feb

OCJ GrouopUSwww.theocjgroup.com I had a terrible experience with these owners. They offered a compensation, then changed it later. Complete 'bait and switch'. I ran into one of their x-business development guys. He was hired then let go 2 months later. Mark's wife read and misinterpreted an eMail that he confidentially sent to an HR 'friend' of his. The BD guy was out of the office. I've never had an employer go in and read my mail. He stated; he didn't care to work for OCJ any longer, they could not get the work orders straight and the people hired. He appears to be successful at his new company. When started, he helped Marks wife buy a new car. Stated they went to Hawaii. However, they could not make my compensation promised. They got me to contract with them on a promise of they had lots of money, then could not pay the money they promised.Word to OCJ. LA is a small town and people talk a lot. Your BD guy and I are spreading the truth.

Canon Printers

2 Feb

Canon MP390CanonUS My printer had an issue where the black and color ink were printing weakly, so after using the suggestions provided online by canon, such as deep cleaning, refreshing print heads, etc. nothing worked. I continued my search online for a solution (because its not like Canon is going to pay my phone bill while I waste MY minutes on hold for their customer service). In an online forum another person had said they had received information from Canon's customer service that if you take out the print head and clean it with hot water and soak it, it would clear out the dried ink. I do this, and now the printer's alarm goes off saying 'PUT IN CARTRIDGE' even though the cartridge is already in there. Basically now I need to buy a new print head for 50 bucks, because the hot water damaged mine. My printer is past warranty, and I'm sorry but 50 bucks is ridiculous for a print head (that may or may not work again). I may as well spend an extra 50 bucks for a more current printer! I have had other printers in the past that have lasted way longer than this. I will NEVER buy another product from Canon again.

Lenovo purchase nightmare

2 Feb

NotebookLenovoLenovo1009 Think PlaceMorrisville, NC 27560USwww.lenovo.com/us I ordered (order #: 2D6AVH) an X61 Tablet on 12/01/2008, together with an extra battery from Lenovo. After the battery (specific for this laptop) was shipped, the company informed me that the screen I wanted for the laptop is not available anymore (one expects the stocks to be checked before the order is approved!). Having the battery shipped already, and not willing to go through the hassle of sending it back, getting reimbursed and having my friend in US (I live in Europe) do all the extra work for me, I unwillingly accepted the downgrade of the screen. The customer service representatives I contacted in the meantime misinformed me (saying the laptop was in production and would be shipped the day after) based on an up-to-date status info they had access to but i didn't(!). Another one emailed me saying that the credit card company had to be contacted to approve the shipping address (which was already done weeks ago and they had already charged the card for the battery they sent me -to the same address-). The shipping date has been postponed and appears to be Jan 2nd, 2009, more than a month since I placed the order, which, for all i know, may be postponed for another month if they 'find out' that the fingerprint reader is not available in their warehouse either...
